Absolutely legal businesses are registered in Georgia by Russian citizens. Our government received thanks from the main strategic partners, the European Union, the United States of America for clearly being in line with international sanctions, of which Georgia is a part, said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili in an interview with IPN.

According to him, there was no circumvention of any sanctions through Georgia.

"When we talk about the relocation of businesses to Georgia, this is definitely a positive trend, because we see an activated economy, additional value created by these businesses. It gives us additional employment and, of course, it is a definite benefit for the economy. Absolutely legal businesses are registered in Georgia. This is clearly valued, appreciated and noted by all our international partners. The government of Georgia received thanks from the main strategic partners, the European Union, the United States of America for clearly being in line with international sanctions, of which Georgia is a part. From the very first day, we had very open communication with international partners, and no sanctions were circumvented through Georgia. This is very clearly stated in the assessment of all international partners. As for the businesses entering Georgia, these are absolutely legal businesses. We also talked about international companies operating in Russia moving and relocating their services and offices. Also, slightly more than 1% of the registered businesses involve Russian capital. Therefore, this is a very small amount in common businesses and it should not pose any danger, of course. It can also be noted here that the majority, when we talk about businesses created with Russian capital, are businesses founded by ethnic Georgians who moved to Georgia from Russia. As for the statistics, there are about 10,000 out of 900,000 registered companies, where there is some participation of Russian citizens in Georgia as a whole, not only in this period. What we are looking at are either the offices of foreign companies, which, first of all, were most interested in relocating from Russia, or companies created, mainly, by ethnic Georgians, who sometimes turn to us for investment residences as well," said Davitashvili.
