We agree that now there is an extraordinary situation - as a standard, 5-6 thousand Russian citizens were arriving during the day, which has recently increased by 40-45 percent. Each citizen is being examined, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze said while commenting on the situation at the Larsi checkpoint with journalists.

According to him, additional forces have been sent to Larsi.

"The flows at the Larsi checkpoint have increased. Usually, during the day there were 5-6 thousand Russian citizens entering, the number of these people has increased by 40-45 percent in the recent period. The Ministry of Internal Affairs does everything that is defined by the law, in particular, each citizen is examined. If they do not meet the requirements defined by the law, they are denied entry. All necessary measures are being implemented, we are controlling the situation there as much as possible, additional forces have been sent to Larsi.

Of course, we agree that now there is an extraordinary situation, the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia led to an increase in flows not only in Georgia, but in other countries as well. Of course, there are challenges, but we are addressing them with the available resources, each person is examined and where we see threats, a negative decision is made against those people," said Darakhvelidze.
