It is manipulation and disinformation, as if the borders are uncontrolled, the border is fully controlled, said the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili.
According to Shalva Papuashvili, the border guards take the decision based on the interests of Georgia's security.
"The stamp that the border guard gives can be considered as a visa. It is up to the border guard to decide who should enter and who should not enter, and of course, it is controlled who should enter and who should not enter. The decision is made by the border guard based on the security interests of Georgia. Everything is controlled.
This is an attempt to harm the state of Georgia, on the one hand, by creating hysteria inside the country, and on the other hand, by damaging the reputation of Georgia outside the country, therefore, it is an ordinary anti-Georgian campaign," said Shalva Papuashvili.
According to Shalva Papuashvili, there are currently 50,000 Russian citizens in Georgia, and many of them are of Georgian origin.
"There is just another disinformation and hysteria. It started in March, as if there is some kind of wave of influx, and in other months as well, this disinformation spread, raising hysteria, that some kind of disaster is happening. We saw the statistics from February to September - how many Russian citizens entered, how many left, all this is recorded and we saw that there are about 50 thousand Russian citizens currently in Georgia, and we also know from personal information that many of them are originally from Georgia," said Shalva Papuashvili.
According to him, there is no selection based on ethnic origin at the border, and the information that only Russians and not North Caucasians are allowed to cross the border is a lie.
"There is no selection of people based on their ethnic origin, on the contrary, it is our opponents who call us to make a selection, xenophobia is a characteristic policy of our opponents. It is confirmed that incoming people are from different regions.
Sometimes they say that we should let them in because they avoid mobilization and every Russian citizen who arrives in Georgia is one less soldier on the Ukrainian front, and on the other hand, they say that we should not let them in because there are security risks," said Shalva Papuashvili.
Shalva Papuashvili also answered the accusations of the "Anti-corruption Movement" regarding the purchase of Russian-sanctioned products by state agencies.
According to him, usually, it takes several hours or a day to confirm how false this information is.
"Absolutely all such information turned out to be lies, we all know this right? We heard that a sanctioned ship came in, cargo came in, a plane flew over, all turned out to be lies, so our experience tells us to be skeptical of such information and not believe it, because usually it only takes a few hours or a day to prove how false this information is," said Shalva Papuashvili.
