Shalva Papuashvili: Lowering the electoral threshold has nothing to do with the 12 recommendations of the European Union, we are not planning to make a decision on the electoral threshold this year!

Lowering the electoral threshold has nothing to do with the 12 recommendations of the European Union - this is not an issue seen from the perspective of the European Union, said Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.

According to him, the process started in the Parliament implies the implementation of the recommendations of the European Council, which, in turn, involves analyzing the OSCE/ODIR reports and reflecting them in the Election Code.

"We have to focus on our goal - if the goal is to get candidate status, we have to follow this issue. As for other goals and interests, there could be many. There may be interest in the electoral threshold. Girchi has opinions about the National Bank of Georgia... It's just not fair towards our population and the European future to put other goals and interests in the basket called moving forward on the path of the European Union. We have to distinguish two different issues from each other. Implementing the recommendations of the European Union is a separate issue. Other issues are not EU issues. We are not planning to make a decision on the electoral threshold this year!", Shalva Papuashvili said.
