According to the Special Penitentiary Service, former President Mikheil Saakashvili did not receive the parcel for only one day.

 

According to a statement issued by the Penitentiary Service, some media outlets have recently been spreading targeted, defamatory information about the possible poisoning or intoxication of accused / convicted Mikheil Saakashvili with drugs, which serves to demoralize the employees of the Special Penitentiary Service, to discredit their professional activities and to tarnish the image of the agency in the society.

 

"The Special Penitentiary Service is responsible for the safety of each accused / convict.

 

Mikheil Saakashvili did not receive the parcel for only one day. Accused / convicted Mikheil Saakashvili, with his consent, will be able to receive the parcel through the persons responsible for sending the parcel.

 

For information, during his stay in the penitentiary system, Mikheil Saakashvili has received parcels many times. In order to inform the public, we explain that Mikheil Saakashvili can buy all the food products that are not prohibited by the statute of the facility in the shop on the territory of the facility, with the sum accumulated on his card, there are also three meals a day for the prisoner," the statement reads.

 

Eka Kherkheulidze, MP of the United National Movement, said after visiting Mikheil Saakashvili at the penitentiary that they blocked all ways for Mikheil Saakashvili to receive food.

 

She said that Mikheil Saakashvili could only receive 3 types of food, which was sent to prison in the form of a parcel, but the administration banned it because it was considered necessary in terms of safety.
