NDI: 82% of respondents approve EU membership, 71% - NATO membership

According to a survey by the National Democratic Institute (NDI), 82% of respondents approve of EU membership. 9% say they disapprove EU membership, while 8% do not know the answer to the question.

 

According to NDI study, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, more people think that Georgia has distanced itself from the EU, while the number of people who believe that Georgia will benefit more from closer relations with Russia has decreased.

 

Citizens across various settlements, age groups and political affiliations equally support Georgia signing EU membership application

 

As for the number of supporters of NATO membership, 71% of respondents say they approve NATO membership. 15% say they disapprove, while 13% do not know the answer to the question.

 

After the invasion, more people believe NATO will provide greater security to Georgia.

 

After the start of the war, 55% of respondents believe that Georgia will restore its territorial integrity.

 

For information, According to NDI, the results reflect data collected between February 3-15 and March 9-20, through telephone interviews with a nationwide representative sample of Georgia’s adult population, excluding occupied territories. The February poll included 2,036 completed interviews, while the March poll included 2024 completed interviews. The average margin of error is +/- 1.8 percent (February poll), and +/- 1.6 percent (March poll). Respondents were selected using the random-digit-dial method.
