Ukraine is not alone in the struggle - today, on Great Thursday of Holy Week, when they want to torture besieged Mariupol and turn it into a new Stalingrad, I want to show my full support for the Ukrainian people here, in your presence, stated President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili stated at a joint briefing after the meeting with the US Congressmen.

"I'm sure your arrival here today is not just about 30 years anniversary. Today, world security and peace face unprecedented challenges. Today, Ukraine not only fights for its own sovereignty and freedom against the total aggression of Russia, but it also fights for our freedom and peace, for us and the whole of Europe, we all see how daringly it copes with aggression.

Ukraine is not alone in the fight. The solidarity declared by the United States from day one, the unprecedented unity between the European Union and the United States in support of Ukraine and the Ukrainians, proved to be very important.

Georgia understands well what war, occupation and struggle for freedom mean, it understands the price of solidarity and therefore, today, on Great Thursday of Holy Week, when they want to torture besieged Mariupol and turn it into a new Stalingrad, I want to show my full support for the Ukrainian people here, in your presence. Us standing together today is another strong message that no one will give up freedom and independence. In this difficult context, your visit becomes even more important. This visit emphasizes that you do not forget Georgia and your attention to Georgia is not slowing down either against the background of the current war or other challenges.

America's role is great in promoting peace and stability, and our strategic partnership serves that very purpose. It is important that we work together to ensure the security of the Black Sea and the stability of the Caucasus region.

Your support is important as Georgia, together with Ukraine and Moldova, prepares for a new crucial stage in European integration. Your support will be key at the NATO Summit in Madrid to give the open door policy a new impetus and a new perspective. Finally, your voice in our bilateral relations will be crucial in order to deepen and strengthen our relations in all areas and move to a new level for the next 30 years," Zurabishvili said.
