World top officials and diplomats congratulate Georgian FM on his appointment

World top officials and first diplomats of partner countries have congratulated Ilia Darchiashvili on his appointment as Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

 

MFA reported on Thursday that EU High Representative for Security Policy Joseph Borrell, Council of Europe Secretary-General Marija Pejcinovic Buric, and GUAM Secretary General Altai Efendiev congratulated the new Foreign Minister on taking up the post.

 

“I look forward to working closely together to advance Georgia’s reform agenda. The EU stands with Georgia, also, in facing regional security challenges in the context of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine,” Josep Borrell twitted.

 

In his letter, GUAM Secretary-General stressed strengthening regional cooperation and expressed hope in this direction.

 

“I look forward to working with you to address the challenges facing Europe and the CoE today,” Marija Pejcinovic Buric addressed Darchiashvili.

 

Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau congratulated FM Darchiashvili on his appointment, saying Georgia is an important partner and friend of Poland.

 

In addition, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics and Lithuanian First Diplomat Gabrielius Landsbergis sent congratulatory letters to the new Minister.

 

FM Rinkevics reiterated strong support for the European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of the country. Gabrielius Landsbergis expresses his readiness to continue close cooperation with Georgia.

 

Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said in his letter that he is looking forward to continuing cooperation with his Georgian counterpart to develop relations between the two countries in various fields.

 

In his letter, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, expressed his desire to continue cooperation with the Georgian FM, underscoring the centuries-old relations between the two countries.

 

Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, also congratulated Ilia Darchiashvili and wished him success in his future endeavors.
