This is not the first time the Kremlin has used Caucasian peoples in its dirty and bloody geopolitical games. The most eloquent example is today's war in Ukraine, where, unfortunately, representatives of the North Caucasian peoples are participating in the aggression of the Russian Federation and are dying on foreign soil. They are fighting for the Russian empire, which enslaved and carried out numerous acts of genocide against all the North Caucasian peoples without exception during the 19-20th centuries. There are those among them who believed the Kremlin's deceitful propaganda about the "fight against fascism" and "denazification". Therefore, today it is important to remember how the Kremlin deceived some representatives of the North Caucasian peoples, in particular, some Chechens in order to fight against Georgia in Abkhazia in 1992-1993, as this video shows:
The Kremlin's security services masterminded with slyness and cunningness a part of representatives of the North Caucasian peoples into the war against Georgia. And if Adygs, Circassians and Kabardians fought in Abkhazia mainly because of "solidarity" with Abkhazians of indirect language and origin, the Chechens were told about "Muslim solidarity".
Here we should remind that at the beginning of the nineties there was a spiritual revival among peoples of the North Caucasus, including Chechens. People, freed from Soviet atheistic dogmas, began to return to their Muslim roots, and therefore they responded to the false propaganda that supposedly "Georgians oppress the Abkhazian Muslims". The most interesting thing is that no one told deceived Chechens that the Abkhazian separatism was stirred up by Armenian nationalists, who were infiltrated with the most virulent Islamophobia. Neither were the Chechen volunteers told that they would have to fight against Georgia side by side with Armenian fighters, with the same Baghramyan battalion. Baghramyan battalion.
What a "Muslim" is the separatist leader Vladislav Ardzinba eloquently showed when he, together with pagan Abkhazian "priests", was conducting kamlanie in allegedly "holy places" i.e. absolutely unacceptable in terms of Islam idolatry. And the same KGB (and later the FSB) that persecuted and suppressed Muslims in Abkhazia and did not allow the construction of mosques, encouraged the revival of the Abkhazian paganism.
And one more thing - when Armenians and deceived North Caucasians fought shoulder to shoulder against Georgia on the side of the separatists, the North Caucasians were thrown into the front line, in the thick of it, using them as "cannon fodder" ... The "great warriors" from the "most ancient people" were mainly engaged in looting.
The war ended, the separatists temporarily "won". And now, almost three decades later, Armenians are an absolute majority in Abkhazia and dominate the economy, while the Kremlin leaders are demanding Abkhazian land for their summer residences. This is the most telling indicator of in whose interests the war was fought.
How many Chechens live in Abkhazia today? Even surviving veterans of the separatist war? There are none of them in Abkhazia at all!
How many descendants of Muhajirs - those Abkhazian Muslims for whom Chechens died in separatist Abkhazia live? Despite the well-publicized campaign of "return of the Muhajirs" a miserable number of them - no more than 3 thousand have returned in 30 years. And most descendants of the Muhajirs, faced with the separatist realities, have either already left or are now forced to leave their ancestral land. We can compare this with a huge flow of tens of thousands of Armenian immigrants to Abkhazia annually, which increased dramatically after Armenia lost the 44-day war.
One should remember that historically it was Georgia and Georgians that played a huge role in the formation of national consciousness of Chechens and other North Caucasian peoples. The Kremlin did not like this very much and they did everything possible to drive a wedge between those Chechens and Georgians. After all unlike the peoples of the North Caucasus Georgia had the status of a union republic, it had significant scientific potential, was able not only to develop its unique culture, but also help other Caucasian peoples to develop it. Whereas Russian authorities both then and now consciously pursued a policy of assimilation in the national republics.
The majority of deceived Chechens who fought against Georgia in Abkhazia repented a long time ago. All the more that the same empire that set them against their Georgian brothers then rolled with blood across Chechnya itself, destroying Grozny and many other Chechen towns and villages and killing more than 200 000 people. The Kremlin's current "favour" towards the current leadership of Chechnya should not be misleading, because the Chechens are simply needed again as "cannon fodder" in the same Ukraine. The way the Russian leadership ruthlessly destroys the people closest to the Russians should make one wonder what will happen to the Chechens or other Caucasian peoples if they once again show "disobedience".
