PM pledges to increase funding for cancer treatment

There was a problem when our citizens diagnosed with cancer had to pay for treatment from their pocket. I am sure we will make a decision to increase this program by 8000 GEL, which will enable each of our citizens to undergo a full course of treatment, - Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said at the governmental meeting.

 

According to him, 1974 citizens of Georgia are enrolled in this program and the above will be an "extremely important support" to these people.

 

"As you know, access to health services still remains problematic in the country. The treatment of oncological diseases needs special attention. There was a problem when our citizens diagnosed with cancer had to pay for treatment from their pocket. I am sure we will make a decision to increase this program by 8000 GEL, which will enable each of our citizens, who fights against this disease, to undergo a full course of treatment without any personal expenses. Unfortunately, today 1974 citizens of Georgia are enrolled in this program and this will an extremely important support to these people," - said Giorgi Gakharia.
