The cost to connect households to water supply networks in municipalities may be reduced.
The relevant issue will be discussed by the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC). However, it should be noted that in the self-governing cities - Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi and Poti, the fees remain the same, as explained by GNEC, due to the complexity of the connection works, for example, asphalt paving, the need for different permits, etc.
“In order to increase the accessibility of the network to the household customers, we have developed a package according to which the connection fee in the municipalities will be reduced to 400 GEL. Until now, the fee was GEL 500, ”said GNERC member Giorgi Pangani.
According to him, the water supply company will be obliged to distribute the connection fee for two years upon request.
“In addition, the cost of connection is also planned for large customers who need large diameter pipelines. There was a big difference between the hitherto existing costs of joining the 100 and 150mm sewer pipes. That has been disputed in some cases. Consequently, this difference was offset by a reduction in the cost of connecting large diameter pipelines. For example, the 150-mm sewer pipe connection for self-governing cities is reduced by 39 percent, and by 57 percent for other municipalities, ”said Pangani.
The issue will be discussed by GNERC on January 17 and will be decided.
