Georgia and China sign new deal aiming to develop tobacco and tea business

Georgia and China have signed a memorandum that aims to popularize Georgian tobacco and tea, supporting business in Georgia’s black sea region of Adjara.

 

Free Trade Agreement between the governments of Georgia and China enables the representatives of businesses to cooperate actively and promoting the export of Georgian tea and tobacco products to the international market. The memorandum is another chance to attract foreign investment in Georgia’s agriculture”, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani.

 

Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and China came into play on January 2018, which means that Starting from January 1 (2018), Georgian wine, mineral waters, honey, tea, fruit, vegetables, and agricultural products will be exported to China and it's market of 1.4 billion consumers, with zero tariffs, without additional customs fees.
