Georgia receives $137.1 mln in remittances in April 2019

Georgia received $137.1 million from abroad in April 2019, which is 10.1% more than the amount in April 2018, says the National Bank of Georgia.

 

Russia ($34.35 million), Italy ($18.44 million) and Greece ($16.34 million) were the largest remittance senders in April 2019.

 

 

Overall, the vast majority (93.7%) of all money transfers from abroad came from 17 countries.

 

 

After Russia, Italy and, Greece other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in April 2019 included:

 

United States – $14.68 million
Israel – $13.33 million
Turkey – $7.76 million
Spain – $4.01 million
Germany – $3.76 million
Ukraine – $2.95 million
Poland – $2.53 million
France – $2.11 million
Azerbaijan – $1.75 million
United Kingdom – $1.43 million
Kyrgyzstan – $1.39 million
Kazakhstan – $1.38 million
Cyprus – $1.18 million
Canada – $1.13 million
In April 2019, remittances leaving Georgia totalled $19.1 million, as compared to $18.5 million in April 2018.
