From February 24 to September 9, 2022, 3,283 applications were submitted by Russian citizens for the right of residence in Georgia, of which 2009 were approved, 708 were rejected, and 89 applications are under consideration.
IPN requested the information from the Ministry of Justice.
More specifically, 952 Russian citizens applied for a permanent residence permit in Georgia, of which 661 were approved, 109 were refused, and 36 are under review; 811 persons applied for the right to work residence, of which 311 were refused, 352 were granted, and 17 were refused.
714 persons applied for the right of short-term residence, of which 372 were granted, 249 were refused, 21 applications are under review;
295 persons applied for the right of residence for the purpose of family reunification, 230 of them were granted, 18 were refused, 2 applications are under review; Out of 291 applications for residence permits for former citizens of Georgia, 227 applications were approved, 10 were rejected, 8 are under review;
167 people applied for a study residence permit, 7 of them were refused, 128 were approved, and 5 applications are under review; Special residence permit was given to 12 out of 16 persons; One person applied for a temporary residence permit, which was granted.
As for the data of the last few years regarding the granting of the right of residence, from January 1, 2017 to September 9, 2022, 13,624 citizens of the Russian Federation applied for the right of residence in Georgia, of which 11,266 were approved, and 1,229 were refused.
More specifically, according to the Ministry, from January 1, 2017 to September 9, 2022, 5596 applications for permanent residence permits were submitted to the agency, of which 4840 were approved, and 324 were rejected; 1307 out of 1470 residence permit applications for family reunification were approved, and 38 were refused; 476 out of 548 applications for study residence were approved, and 10 people were refused; Special permission was issued to 49 out of 57 persons. 1597 out of 2311 persons received work residence permits, while 446 persons were refused; 1113 applications for residence permits for former citizens of Georgia were submitted, of which 32 were rejected and 1000 were given positive answers; In the same period, 1 application for a temporary residence permit was submitted to the agency, which was approved; 1910 out of 2407 applications for short-term residence permit were approved, while 257 persons were refused; Out of 43 permanent investment permit applications, 30 were approved, 12 were rejected.
