Khatia Dekanoidze: Everyone has understood well that the policy of giving in to Russia backfires - Georgia should join the sanctions imposed against Russia, including against Lukashenko

Everyone has understood well that the policy of giving in to Russia backfires - Georgia should join the sanctions imposed against Russia, including against Lukashenko, said Khatia Dekanoidze, chairwoman of the National Movement faction.

As she noted, Georgia should terminate all agreements signed with Belarus.

"On behalf of our faction, party and a large number of citizens, I would like to respond to the arrival of the Belarusian dictator in Abkhazia, which is an integral part of the territory of Georgia, and the arrival of the dictator there and the holding of so-called negotiations is a violation of all international principles, a step against the statehood of Georgia. This fact also demonstrates that the policy of warming relations with Russia, which was carried out by the government of Georgia, results in nothing, since Lukashenko - the dictator of Belarus, is a person who fulfills Putin's task.

Throughout this period, despite our calls and strict warnings, the Georgian authorities did nothing to have a strict and drastic policy towards Russian military aggression in Ukraine. I will remind the public about the resolution in which the Russian Federation was not mentioned, as well as the statements made by the representatives of the government to the representatives of the Ukrainian government. But now steps must be taken immediately by the government, which will be only in accordance with the national interests of Georgia.

It should be noted that all this is happening against the background of shameful so-called referendums held in the territories of Ukraine occupied by the Kremlin, which the Georgian government has practically condemned only with Twitter statements," said Dekanoidze.

According to her, "the deliberately suspended non-recognition policy should be continued immediately, and the Ambassador should be recalled from Belarus as soon as possible."

"All contracts signed with Lukashenko's state institution, which are actually harmful to the country's interests, should be canceled, and this applies first of all to the contract signed with the KGB. Air shipments, direct flights should be stopped," said Dekanoidze.
