I support Ivanishvili, but I do not see the need to hold a rally, said Beka Davituliani, a member of the parliamentary majority.
He said he did not understand the purpose of the rally.
"I do not understand why a rally is needed. I support Bidzina Ivanishvili, but I do not see the need and purpose of the rally. I will support Bidzina Ivanishvili, of course, but I do not understand why the need for a rally arose today. I do not see its goal, I do not think it is necessary today," Davituliani said.
He also responded to the delay in Ivanishvili's transactions by the Swiss bank, noting that the questions on this issue are legitimate because Ivanishvili has personal influence and someone might think he could use that influence to engage the country in a war.
"The situation in the region is the gravest, victory is essential for all opposing sides. Georgia is trying to stand by Ukraine in humanitarian and political terms during this period. Accordingly, it stands firmly on the side of the Western world, but Georgia says that it will not enter into this conflict from a military point of view. There are very high risks in Ukraine and there are very high political, military and security risks in Georgia as well. Thank God we are able to protect the country from these risks and I hope we will continue to do so in the years to come. As for Ivanishvili, he has stated that he left politics, but of course, he has influence and some people may potentially think that he can use the influence. However, he does not use it and I'm sure, even if he starts using it [influence], his position will be that Georgia should not be involved in this war," Davituliani said.
