The statement and response of the Ministry of Justice is a clear confirmation that the system has decided to inflict maximum damage on Mikheil Saakashvili's health, not to provide basic medical services to him, said Levan Bezhashvili, MP of the National Movement.
Bezhashvili also spoke about the issue of surety, saying that it is not a legal but political act, by which MPs take both political and legal responsibility.
"This is inhuman treatment, equal to torture, when a person does not have the opportunity to see a personal doctor, to make sure that the treatment he is receiving is relevant. They do not allow international experts to be accredited, to diagnose Mikheil Saakashvili and to determine whether it is possible for him to be treated in the country.
MPs' decision to stand surety is not a legal but political act, by which MPs of the minority express their position and call on the state, the Ministry of Justice to transfer Mikheil Saakashvili to improve his health condition, and if there will be any possible lawlessness, MPs take political and legal responsibility for it. We call on all opposition MPs to join this political surety, however, we know the position of the Ministry of Justice on this issue," Bezhashvili said.
