Human Rights Committee Chair: Opposition attempts to distort reality

09.11.21 14:40

“The opposition tries to distort the reality with speculations and simulations,” said Mikheil Sarjveladze, Chairman of the parliamentary Human Rights Committee.

According to Sarjveladze, opposition leaders want to raise the political temperature, while everybody has the right to freedom of expression and holding of protests is guaranteed by Constitution.

“However, the freedom of expression should not exceed the frame, which is defined in democratic and civilized states. That should not get an anti-state form,” Sarjveladze claimed.

Chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party Nika Melia vowed that protests would be permanent and expand to several locations.
