The provocateurs who are trying to split the Georgian-Azerbaijani relations and provoke interethnic tension in Georgia were closely forced to engage in the Georgian Security Service - the attempts to incite ethnic hatred became so arrogant and demonstrative.
According to the State Security Service, provocateurs of individuals are trying to use the questions that arise in the regions of Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti in order to incite ethnic hatred.
“A group of people is trying to make a split between Georgian citizens of Georgian and Azerbaijani origin by spreading incorrect and aggressive appeals that cause statements and actions on both sides that offend national honor and dignity. This group of people hopes that inciting ethnic hatred will lead to illegal violations of human rights on ethnic grounds” - says the statement of the SSG.
The State Security Department of the State Security Service of Georgia is already investigating racial discrimination. However, it seems that the provocateurs will not calm down at all and are trying to use for their dirty purposes that which is holy for Georgians - the Orthodox faith.
On Thursday, June 4, the Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates "David Garejoba" - the day of remembrance of the holy David Gareji - one of the "13 Syrian Fathers", the monk who founded the tradition of monastic life in Georgia. The David Garejoba is usually celebrated the following Thursday after the Ascension. Celebratory services will be held in places associated with David Gareji, including the David Gareji monastery complex he founded on the border of Georgia and Azerbaijan.
Unfortunately, not only clergy and Orthodox believers are preparing for this holiday, but also provocateurs. First of all, Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, known for his anti-Azerbaijani and xenophobic antics, clearly fulfills the “order” of the Armenian Embassy in Tbilisi. His so-called “David Gareji Defense Committee” hypocritically builds himself as a “defender of Orthodox shrines,” and for some reason exclusively on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border.
It would seem that these “defenders” should first of all deal with the destruction of Georgian churches and monasteries on the territory of the Republic of Armenia. First of all, the Khujabi monastery, which Armenia illegally seized, "moving" the Georgian-Armenian border 400 meters and where, in principle, neither Georgian priests and pilgrims nor Georgian restorers are allowed. This monastery is in terrible condition and is being destroyed. Other Georgian shrines in the territory of the Republic of Armenia are in the same, if not worse condition, in which cattle barn is sometimes simply arranged. But this self-proclaimed "defenders of David Gareji" for some reason does not bother. As well as the official claims of the Armenian religious structures to 465 Georgian churches already on the territory of Georgia. Provocateurs essentially fulfill the order of the Armenian authorities to incite conflicts with Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis, and at the same time do not hesitate to face the most heinous provocations.
At present, a border delimitation and demarcation commission is working between Georgia and Azerbaijan, both parties should also determine the procedure for “cross-border” visiting shrines in the area of David Gareji Monastery by pilgrims and tourists. But the provocateurs do not need peace on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border and the development of tourism and pilgrimage. The main thing for them is to spark a conflict, preferably with shooting and casualties. Therefore, they directly put forward essentially slogans of unauthorized changes in borders, contrary to all international standards and bilateral agreements.
That is how one should regard the call of the same Nikoloz Mzhavanadze published by him and in a number of mass media (in particular, on the website tvalsazrisi.ge https://tvalsazrisi.ge/%e1%83%9c%e1%83%98%e1%83%99%e1%83%9d%e1%83%9a%e1%83%9d%e1%83%96-%e1%83%9b%e1%83%9f%e1%83%90%e1%83%95%e1%83%90%e1%83%9c%e1%83%90%e1%83%ab%e1%83%94-4-%e1%83%98%e1%83%95%e1%83%9c%e1%83%98%e1%83%a1/?fbclid=IwAR1xENiQCXAvhy_xWsOuhJsAiqM2TdyIOvlUZccHH-vldmtY8j559zJy884) and on his Facebook page: “Georgia should return the churches of Chreskho and Wesbury on June 4”.
What does it mean to “return”? The David Gareji complex is already 95% in the territory of Georgia. Why is this fact withheld by these provocateurs? There are interstate agreements, there is a procedure for crossing the border established by bilateral agreements, there is work on the delimitation of the border that is currently underway. And now they are going to cross out on June 4! By calling into question all the internationally recognized borders of Georgia! For the country, 20% of the territory that is occupied (with the direct participation of Armenian nationalists) is a clear hostile provocation.
Provocateurs urge June 4 to violate the state border. Those. they not only foment interethnic relations in Georgia itself but also provoke its conflict with a neighboring friendly country. The State Security Service should closely deal with such provocative calls that inflict tremendous harm on Georgia’s political and economic interests.
