The minimum wage was reduced to GEL 194.8 in December

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in December 2019, compared to November, the minimum wage in Georgia has decreased. In November, the minimum wage for a working-age man was GEL 195.6, while in December the figure was GEL 194.8.

 

However, according to the National Statistics Office, the average monthly subsistence minimum was reduced by 0.8 GEL in December to 172.5 GEL. The average family living wage was reduced by one lari and 30 tetri in December to 326.8 lari.

 

As for the minimum wage in December last year, the following data are available: per household was 172.5 lari, 276.1 lari for two persons, 310.6 lari for three members, 345.1 lari for four members, 388.2 lari for five members, 459.0 lari and more.

 

The National Statistics Office establishes a subsistence minimum on the basis of a minimum food basket. In turn, the minimum food basket contains the amount of physiologically necessary nutrients for the normal life and working life of a working-age man. The subsistence basket consists of 40 types of products - bread, cereals, meat, dairy products, vegetables, and pastry.
