“The European standard for evaluation and transparency has been established in collaboration with the European Science Foundation and the Rustaveli Foundation,” said Mikheil Batiashvili, Georgian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.
The Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia has announced research grant competitions for young and experienced scientists.
The experts of the European Science Foundation (ESF) are evaluating projects submitted by young scientists to raise the standards of transparency and evaluation. Importantly, the contests announced by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation are the highest-budget.
“Within the frames of the education reform, we have made it our priority to work with European research funds and institutions, to develop flexible, transparent and effective science funding schemes. All this became a reality after the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and the European Scientific Foundation (ESF). Significant steps have been taken within a year to reform the Georgian science management and evaluation system, which has led to the introduction of a European standard of transparency. The National Science Foundation of Rustaveli is assisted by the European Science Foundation (ESF) in this process,” the Minister of Education said while assessing the reform.
“We would like to remind you that in September 2019 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Rustaveli Foundation and the ESF in Strasbourg, on the basis of which a European standard for research evaluation was introduced in the Rustaveli Foundation. Based on this agreement, the European Science Foundation (ESF) assists the Rustaveli Foundation in the expertise, implementation of the European Standard Panel Evaluation System, Science Management and the development of a methodology for the creation of scientific clusters. It also promotes the promotion of Georgian science in the EU," he added.
The mission of the European Science Foundation is to promote the highest quality science and research and innovation in Europe. Its work focuses on the quality and effectiveness of science and its related activities. It unites more than 42,000 European scientists working in all fields of science.
