The Committee of Procedural Issues and Rules of the Parliament will check the authenticity of the signatures of the deputies on the prepared constitutional initiative "Against LGBT Propaganda" and present the results at the next session of the Bureau.

The constitutional project was initiated by the majority of 83 deputies. The committee will meet on April 10 to discuss the authenticity of their signatures.

After that, the Parliament will create a commission for universal and public consideration of constitutional amendments. The commission should hold meetings in various administrative units of the country in order to inform the population as much as possible about the draft constitution.

It should be noted that according to the regulations, more than half, but not less than three, of the members of the parliament included in the organizing commission of the general-public discussion should be members of the parliamentary opposition, however, if it is impossible to staff the commission according to the mentioned rule, it is not mandatory to observe the representative ratio of the members of the parliament.

On the initiative of the ruling majority in the parliament, "against LGBT propaganda", a draft of amendments to the current constitution and also a draft of the constitutional law entitled - "On family values and protection of minors" have been submitted.

According to the planned change in the Constitution itself, Article 30 of the Constitution will be corrected, which will affect the rights of marriage, mothers and children. Taking into account the project, a new paragraph is added to the mentioned article with the following content: - "The protection of family values and minors is ensured by the constitutional law of Georgia, which is an integral part of the Constitution of Georgia."

As for the draft of the constitutional law "On Family Values and Protection of Minors", it consists of eight clauses and provides for the establishment of a number of restrictions and prohibitions.
