Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili met with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Georgia, Zhou Qian. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes information about this.
According to their information, the ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Georgia officially handed over a note to the Georgian side, according to which the procedures for the entry into force of the "Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the People's Republic of China on the bilateral exemption from visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports" signed on April 10, 2024, have been completed.
"As a result of the above, citizens of Georgia are allowed to travel to the People's Republic of China without a visa and stay in the country for 30 consecutive days from May 28, 2024. The visa-free travel introduced between Georgia and China is another expression of the strategic partnership established between the two countries last year and another important tangible result of cooperation. At the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of the agenda of bilateral and multilateral relations between Georgia and China, including opportunities for cooperation development in political, economic, tourist and cultural-humanitarian directions.
It was emphasized the importance of fully using the new opportunities that were created as a result of the strategic partnership established between the two countries last year. It should be noted that the existence of the visa-free travel will contribute to bringing the two friendly nations and people closer together, to the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation, to the deepening of people-to-people contacts, tourist, cultural and trade-economic ties," the information says.
