Georgia extradites person wanted by Interpol for particularly serious crimes to USA

A person wanted by Interpol red circular for severe crimes has been extradited from Georgia to the United States of America. The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia disseminates information in this regard.

 

According to the agency, the extradited person was wanted by the competent authorities of the United States of America for committing several crimes, including sexual violence against minors in the state of Texas.

 

"Based on the individual extradition agreement signed between the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia and the United States Department of State, the extradition of a person wanted by Interpol red circular for grave crimes has been carried out from Georgia to the United States of America.

 

The extradited person was wanted by the competent authorities of the United States of America in 2017-2021 in the state of Texas for sexual violence against minors and assault on a family member, as well as in 2020-2021 in the state of Louisiana for membership of an organized criminal group and other crimes.

 

Based on the petition of the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, Tbilisi City Court declared the extradition of the mentioned person to the United States of America admissible.

 

On December 26, 2023, the Minister of Justice of Georgia made a final decision on extradition, after which the wanted person was handed over by the employees of the Special Penitentiary Service to the representatives of the competent authorities of the United States of America.

 

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia expresses its readiness to successfully cooperate with the competent authorities of partner countries in the future to bring the wanted persons to justice," reads the press release.
