The Roads Department of Georgia has imposed traffic restrictions on several sections across the country following heavy snowfall on Tuesday.
Traffic has been prohibited for all types of vehicles on the 50-89 kilometre road section of the Kutaisi-Baghdati-Abastumani-Benara highway in the west of the country.
For the 146-151 kilometre section of the Kutaisi-Tskaltubo-Tsageri-Lentekhi-Lasdili highway in the west, traffic of semi-trailers and trailers has been prohibited, while the 125-146 kilometre section of the highway is accessible only for off-road vehicles.
Traffic has also been prohibited for trailers and semi-trailers on the Sachkhere-Uzunta-Shkmeri-Zudali highway in the central-western part of the country, while other types of vehicles are allowed on the road, the Department said.
Restrictions have been lifted for trailers, semi-trailers and buses with more than 30 seats on the Akhalkalaki-Kartsakhi international highway in the south and the 90-112 kilometre section of the Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda highway, after the roads were cleared following heavy snowfall.
