There is no objective reason to transfer Mikheil Saakashvili to the intensive care unit, Minister of Justice, Rati Bregadze said at the briefing.

According to the Minister of Justice, parenteral nutrition, which is easily available in the ward where Saakashvili is, cannot be given due to the prisoner's refusal, and the doctor is not given the proper opportunity to take care of the prisoner's health.

Rati Bregadze states that ultimatums and threats of self-harm are categorically unacceptable.

"Destructive actions of the radical opposition to maintain political vitality, as everyone knows, are not good for the society. Therefore, it is not surprising that they do not shy away from politicizing and manipulating the issue of human health to achieve private political goals. For two days, an active campaign has been underway to transfer the prisoner Mikheil Saakashvili to the intensive care unit, which serves the purpose of forming wrong public perceptions about the state of health, artificially intensifying the emotional background and intentionally presenting the fair actions of the state unfairly.

As part of the aforementioned campaign, Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyer and members of his political team deliberately spread false information yesterday that the prisoner was transferred to the intensive care unit. In matters of treatment, the opinions of medical personnel are reliable for us, and not baseless statements of politically engaged persons aimed at misleading the public. According to the yesterday's statement of the director of the Vivamed clinic, the patient does not have a swallowing disorder or any other interfering mechanism that may exist for the intake of food. The convict was offered parenteral nutrition, which he categorically refuses and states that he will accept such nutrition only if he is transferred to the intensive care unit.

Physiological parameters of the patient remain within the norm. Even the mass index does not correspond to the treatment parameters in the intensive care unit, which ultimately means that there is no objective reason for transferring Mikheil Saakashvili to the intensive care unit. Therefore, the public must know that the measures necessary for health, in particular parenteral nutrition, which can be carried out easily in the ward where the convict Saakashvili is, cannot be carried out due to the refusal of the prisoner himself, and the doctor is not given the proper opportunity to take care of the prisoner's health, and the ultimatum and threat of self-harm is categorically unacceptable for the whole society and us," said Rati Bregadze.
