There is no plan to dismiss Nika Melia, or make any changes in the party, National Movement MP Ana Tsitlidze told reporters, answering a question about the controversy in the party and the incident related to the Movement for Georgia Chairman Giorgi Mumladze.
According to her, issues, such as changes, if necessary, will be decided by the party, the political council of the party, regional and district organizations, and not by civil activists or people who are not members of the party. Tsitlidze explains that this issue does not arise in the party.
In addition, Tsitlidze explained that Giorgi Mumladze is not a member of the party, but a civil activist.
"The party spread information about the specific incident. It was a serious provocation attempt by him and other unknown persons, which was prevented by the party members. I do not endorse physical confrontation.
I want to call on all people, who are trying to be confrontational, to adjust their focus, the target of this focus should not be Nika Melia, but Bidzina Ivanishvili, because he is the main problem of this country," Tsitlidze said.
As Tsitlidze said, there is no internal conflict in the party.
"As for the issue of Kezerashvili, there was a difference of opinion regarding Nika Melia's statement, as regarding many other issues, but there was no controversy," Tsitlidze said.
For information, according to the National Movement, there was a confrontation between the chairman of the party, Nika Melia, and Giorgi Mumladze, a member of the Movement for Georgia.
In particular, according to the party, Giorgi Mumladze and several persons accompanying him broke into Melia's office and "tried to create a provocation using offensive, street terminology", which was prevented by party members.
In addition, as the National Movement explains, during Melia’s interview with the Public Broadcaster, Giorgi Mumladze and his group intentionally went to the television to provoke and verbally abused the driver of Nika Melia, in the presence of the employees of the Public Broadcaster and security police officers.
