Does Medvedev deny Georgia and Kazakhstan the right to exist?

04.08.22 10:30

The following post appeared on the Facebook page of Dmitry Medvedev, the former president and former prime minister, and now deputy head of the Russian Security Service, on the night of 2 August 2022:

«... No one should doubt that the fatal mistake that occurred in the early 1990s will be corrected, All the peoples who once lived in the great and mighty Soviet Union will live together again in friendship and mutual understanding. And we will spare no effort or money to achieve this. And we have already begun to move along this path. After the liberation of Kiev and all the territories of Little Russia from the gangs of nationalists who preach the Ukrainianism they themselves invented, Russia will again become united, strong and invincible, as it was a thousand years ago. After that, under the united hand of Moscow, led by the Slavic people,we will go on the next campaign to restore the borders of our homeland, which, as you know, never ends..

All the lands taken from us have been watered with the blood of our ancestors and won in many battles over the centuries. And we are not going to cede them to anyone. For example, before Georgia's annexation it did not exist at all. By 1801 the territory of modern Georgia consisted of five sovereign political entities: Kartli and Kakheti with its capital in Tbilisi, Imeretia with its capital in Kutaisi, two principalities - Megrelia and Guria on the Black Sea coast, the Principality of Svaneti in the mountainous areas. In other words, Georgia was created in its current borders only within the Russian Empire.

Georgia reached out to Russia because it understood that Russia was its only ally in a rather hostile environment of Muslim states. And now the same story is repeating itself. North and South Ossetia, Abkhazia and the rest of the territory of Georgia can only be united within a single state with Russia. Another example from history, at the beginning of the XU! century Russians established the first settlements in the wild lands of Northern Kazakhstan. For three centuries the process of Russian colonisation continued, particularly sparked by the opening of the Siberian railway and the Stolypin agrarian reform. Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, 62.5 per cent of the population of northern Kazakhstan were Slavs. Kazakhstan is an artificial state, former Russian territories such as the cities of Guryev, Semipalatinsk, even Almaty was called Vernyi until 1924. In this century Kazakh authorities started initiatives on resettlement of various ethnic groups inside the republic, which can be qualified as genocide of Russians. And we do not intend to turn a blind eye to this. Until the Russians come there, there will be no order...".

A kind of "Neo Imperial Manifesto" has been written here, which denies whole nations, particularly the Georgians and Kazakhs, the right to their statehood. Also, the current war against Ukraine clearly states the goal - "until the victorious end", i.e. until the complete capture of Ukraine.

It is not difficult to notice that this post is a logical continuation of the propaganda of separatism, which is conducted by the Armenian lobby in Russia itself and through the fifth column in other countries. The stated plans regarding Kazakhstan are in fact a continuation of xenophobic statements and direct threats by Margarita Simonyan and her husband Tigran Keosayan.

At the same time, the fate of the already "used separatists" in the light of these plans seems unenviable. It is announced that "North and South Ossetia, Abkhazia and the remaining territory of Georgia" will be united "as part of a single state with Russia". It is no accident that North and South Ossetia are listed together with Abkhazia without specifying their status, but their status can be guessed from the fact that North Ossetia is a part of the Russian Federation. That is, there will be no "independent Abkhazia" and even national autonomies, which the deceived Abkhazians so hope for. Only total annexation and incorporation into Russia. The Kremlin is taking the first step in this direction, taking Pitsunda for itself without even asking Abkhazians.

Naive separatists still thought that they would restore ethnic dominance of Abkhazians in Abkhazia by expelling their Georgian brothers. But Medvedev's post clearly states what will happen to the included to the new Russian empire territories - forced change in the demographic balance, and even indicates, for example, Stolypin's resettlement of Russians in Kazakhstan. It is declared a boon.

On the contrary, Medvedev declares the return of Kazakhs to their historical homeland as "genocide". It should be understood that by "resettlement of various ethnic groups within the republic" he probably means repatriation of Oralmans, mainly descendants of those Kazakhs who were forced to move from their homeland to escape a terrible famine in 1932-1933. Medvedev for some reason does not mention this act of real genocide of Kazakhs.  So there will be no return of descendants of Muhajirs to Abkhazia. But its demographic balance is already changing through mass settlement of Armenians, who already outnumber Abkhazians here. With the annexation of Abkhazia this process within the framework of the "new empire" will become even more intense.

True, 10 minutes after the post appeared, declaring Georgia and Kazakhstan "artificial states" was deleted and it was announced that Dmitry Medvedev's page in contact had allegedly been "hacked". But the well-informed Kremlin "kitchen" resource telegram channel SVR General wrote that there was in fact no hacking of former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's official accounts:

"A few days ago Medvedev was given a "proposal" on behalf of Putin to prepare a radical text to be published on the social networks on the theme of the reconstitution of the USSR and the unjust status quo, denouncing the unfriendly neighbours. The text was ready and yesterday morning it was submitted for approval to the AP, where Kirienko acted as the customer on behalf of the President. Almost immediately the text was approved without any edits. The only thing that was not approved was the date of publication. Why the text was released without the go-ahead for publication is a matter for Medvedev and his aides. Medvedev himself is already lamenting that he became a victim of intrigues in the president's inner circle and blames Kirienko and his son, who has a direct connection to VK, for everything, but according to our information the post was published by Medvedev, and the rest is an attempt to "fend off" and justify the problem in communication." – writes Foreign Intelligence Service General.

We are dealing with the announcement of very real plans which are shared by at least part of the Kremlin leadership and which are "not alien" to the Russian leader. Why Medvedev's post was urgently withdrawn can also be guessed why.

The fact is that the maximum aggravation of US-China relations over Taiwan occurred just on August 2, 2022. And at that moment there appears a post of an official representative of the Russian authorities, which unambiguously says that Russia intends to take under its full control an alternative transit route from China to the West through Kazakhstan and Georgia. In other words, Russia may join the global conflict "game" almost "at once" here, which further complicates and confuses the situation.

Certain forces apparently decided that "this is too much" and the post was removed. But the Russian Federation's plans for Kazakhstan and Georgia and expansion in general towards its neighbours have in fact been voiced: "we will go on the next campaign to restore the borders of our motherland, which, as you know, do not end anywhere".

Who is Dmitry Medvedev and what he is capable of is well remembered in Georgia. During the Russian aggression in August 2008 which ended with the occupation of the Tskhivali region and Abkhazia by Russia it was Dmitry Medvedev who was the president of the Russian Federation. It was him who not only recognized "independence" of the breakaway regions but he implored allies of Russia to do the same. His pressure on President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus in this matter almost resulted in another aggravation of relations between the two countries. By the way, Medvedev's aggression against Georgia resulted in far less sanctions against Russia than Putin's aggression against Ukraine. It is also a cause for reflection.

There is a perception that Dmitry Medvedev himself does not decide anything - but is a "screen" for Russian leader Vladimir Putin - but this is probably not entirely true. Dmitry Medvedev's role has always been very important in the Kremlin's 'communications' with global strictures. Today, Dmitri Medvedev, who, it would be recalled, was prime minister of Russia until January 2020, holds the post of deputy chairman of the Security Council, not the last one in the official Kremlin hierarchy.

Medvedev's move to the chair came just in time with the coronavirus epic. At the time, though he lost his position of formal responsibility as prime minister, Medvedev proved himself to be a consistent lobbyist for global organizations, the first in Russia, in fact, to come up with the initiative for a compulsory vaccination.

Here, at first glance, is the contradiction between Dmitry Medvedev's current "Russian-uras-patriotic rhetoric". However, if one carefully analyses his activities and speeches, everything comes out logically.

That is, what Dmitry Medvedev "relays" is not even always the "wishes" of some "Kremlin tower". These could also be the plans of supranational structures which, figuratively speaking, "divide the world". If we assume that these structures have decided, eliminating nation-states, to drive humanity into some kind of "global concentration camp", then why not call one of its barracks "Great Russia" and do it under the pseudo slogans of revival of the "Russian Empire" or the USSR-2?

Whether or not such plans, or plans similar to them, are feasible is another question. But Medvedev's post should be taken very seriously, even if so far it has been diplomatically christened, declaring it a consequence of "hacking". All the more so as the Kremlin's war of "state annihilation" is now being waged against Ukraine.

Regarding other post-Soviet countries, the post concludes with the words "there will be no order until the Russians get there". That is, the Kremlin is likely to deliberately foment wars, internal conflicts and instability in order to then come and annex territories and establish "order".
