Representatives of the parliamentary majority will pay a visit to Ukraine, Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Georgian Dream, said.
As for the composition, as Kobakhidze explained, "it will be known later".
According to Kobakhidze, there is a general readiness for a visit at the highest parliamentary level, but there are very clear preconditions.
He said Ukraine still remains in a state of demarche towards Georgia and this situation needs to be changed.
"Of course, there were preliminary consultations. There is a general readiness for a visit at the highest parliamentary level as well. However, there are very clear preconditions and we all know what these preconditions are related to. Unfortunately, several offensive steps have been taken by the Ukrainian authorities in recent times. These were insulting steps for the state and not for the ruling team. Of course, when there is an insult to the state at such a time, it is necessary to express position and this applies to the issue of recalling the ambassador as well.
To this day, Ukraine remains in a state of demarche towards Georgia. In any case, we have not seen any different steps from the Ukrainian authorities since then. Of course, this situation needs to be changed, it is one and very important issue of principle.
Second, we have heard allegations of smuggling. Then we heard softer statements from the Ukrainian authorities. However, we agree that this is not enough. When such an accusation comes from the Ukrainian authorities, it needs to be properly either proved or denied, which we have not heard. Consequently, this issue remains relevant.
Third - probably the most principled issue, because we think that the root of all these problems, the root of these false accusations and the recall of the ambassador is that to this day the people who are the radical opposition leaders in Georgia are highly represented in the Ukrainian Government.
Let us remind you that these are, first of all, Mikheil Saakashvili, who is the head of the Reform Council. Zurab Adeishvili, Adviser to the Prosecutor General. Gia Lortkipanidze, who is the Deputy Head of Counterintelligence, and Davit Arakhamia, the person who provides the direct link between these people and the Ukrainian authorities at the highest level. This is unfortunate.
Can you imagine if we had appointed the people recognized as the most serious criminals by the Ukrainian authorities to the high positions in Georgia? Of course, it is in Ukraine's interests to resolve this situation, first and foremost, so that the bilateral friendship does not encounter any additional problems. This is the current situation, which naturally needs to be changed. These are three fundamental issues. As soon as we see progress in one, two and three directions, naturally, we can also think about a visit at the highest parliamentary level," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
