Georgian Parliament to set example of tolerance, MEP Cramon says

European Parliament member Viola von Cramon has reacted to the aftermath of the July 5 events in Georgia, saying that “it is imperative to develop and learn ways of reconciling our possible, differing views in a peaceful and constructive way at all levels of the government and society.”

 

“In this regard, it is a duty of the Georgian government, the Georgian Parliament to set an example of tolerance, respect to differences and openness to compromise and dialogue, as a fundamental step on its European path. I light of these developments, through this conference we aim to initiate the discussion around guiding principles and best European practices of interparty communication, collaboration and division of responsibility within the parliamentary structure in hopes that these insides might prove valuable for our Georgian colleagues,” MEP Cramon underscored.
The far-right mob attacked fifty-three journalists and ransacked the Tbilisi Pride and Shame Movement offices.

 

TV Pirveli cameraman Aleksandre (Lekso) Lashkarava died on Monday, six days after being severely beaten by a homophobic crowd on July 5.
