Over $ 200 million spent in 2020 to combat coronavirus in Georgia

The healthcare system spent more than $ 200 million in 2020 to combat coronavirus.


InterPressNews requested information from the Ministry of Health about the amount of money spent on the fight against coronavirus in 2020.

 

According to the information provided by the agency, 41,549 GEL was spent from the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health to fight against coronavirus in 2020, 15 472 GEL out of which was the cost of medical equipment.

 

In addition, a total of $ 45,787,829 was spent in 2020 on the basis of a loan agreement between Georgia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank under the COVID-19 Rapid Response Project.

 

As for the LEPL National Health Agency, the following amounts were subject to reimbursement under the COVID 19 management program: Provision of quarantine measures - medical supervision - 107,807 GEL; Hotel service for quarantine spaces - 465 598 GEL; Provision of quarantine spaces by medical staff - 3 162 973 GEL; Management of infection caused by new coronavirus (diagnosis/treatment) - 6 327 092 GEL; Mobilization of medical institutions (bed fund) - GEL 62,080,920; Mobilization of additional staff for medical institutions - GEL 26,191; Additional remuneration for staff employed in mobilized medical facilities involved in the management of COVID-19 - GEL 6,307,261; Management of quarantine spaces through Georgian Medical Holding - GEL 19,656; Provision of quarantine spaces with medical items, personal protective equipment, medicines through the Georgian Medical Holding - 796 968 GEL.

 

The Ministry of Health spent 19,176,911 GEL on the purchase of personal protective equipment: 5,802,332 GEL was spent on the purchase of three-layer masks and 8,733,354 GEL - on the purchase of medical overalls.
