Georgia’s top trade partners remained Turkey ($1.42 bln), Russia ($1.18 bln) and China ($1.09 bln) in January-November 2020, show preliminary datafrom the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
The share of Georgia’s top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover amounted to 70.4 per cent.
In the first 11 months of this year Georgia’s external merchandise trade amounted to $10.2 billion which is a 14.6 per cent decrease compared to the same period of 2019.
Georgian external trade down 14.6% in Jan-Nov 2020
The value of exports decreased 11.3 per cent and totalled $3.01 billion, while imports also decreased 15.9 per cent, amounting to $7.18 billion.
The share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 76.4 per cent in January-November 2020. The top export partners were China ($445.9 million), Azerbaijan ($399.6 million) and Russia ($396.6 million).
In the same period, the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 70 per cent. The top import partners were Turkey ($1.25 billion), Russia ($789.1 million) and China ($646.3 million).
The top three export items were the following:
Copper ores and concentrates - $677.2 million, 22.4 per cent of total exports
Motor cars totaled - $364.8 million, 12.1 per cent of total exports
Ferro-alloys - $231.6 million, 7.7 percent of the total exports
The top import commodities in January-November 2020 were as follows:
Motor cars - $680.7 million, 9.5 percent of the total imports
Copper ores and concentrates - $494.2 million, 6.9 percent of total imports
Petroleum and petroleum oils - $451.0 million, 6.3 percent of total imports
