Giga Bokeria: All our proposals are under the umbrella of re-elections - the opposition has already compromised when it raised the issue of early elections instead of re-elections

All our proposals are under the umbrella of re-election. My political team and I will not consider any other proposals, - Giga Bokeria, one of the leaders of European Georgia, told reporters.

 

"We, the parties, routinely meet to discuss all topics. We have no news yet, not even about the third round, and the position of the opposition parties is unchanged. All our proposals are under the umbrella of re-election. My political team and I will not consider any other proposals. There are many important proposals under the umbrella of the new elections, which Aleko Elisashvili is probably talking about, because the new elections must be held normally and holding them normally requires substantial changes", - Bokeria said.

 

Asked if the ruling team would come up with another proposal, such as lowering the threshold in 2024, changing the CEC administration, Giga Bokeria said that the opposition would not accept any offer other than the elections.

 

"No, there can be no precedent for the seizure of power in Georgia, because this path then leads to authoritarianism. The opposition has already compromised when it raised the issue of early elections instead of re-elections", - Bokeria said.
