The rate of deaths caused by Covid is higher than the death rates of AIDs and malaria, - said Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of the National Center for Disease Control.

 

He said it was likely that the Covid-related death rate would soon equal the rate of deaths caused by tuberculosis.

 

"The rate of deaths caused by Covid is higher than the death rates of AIDs and malaria. So far, the only stronger infectious killer is tuberculosis, and probably, as it is predicted, this will also change soon and the rate of deaths caused by Covid will be higher than the death rates of tuberculosis and hepatitis," Gamkrelidze said.
