In January-October 2019, Georgia exported 75.6 million bottles of wine to 53 countries around the world, which is an increase of 11 per cent compared to the same period of last year, announces the National Wine Agency of Georgia.
Export revenue of wine was $195 million in the first 10 months of 2019, which is 20 per cent more than it was in the same period of 2018.
The top ten countries for Georgian wine export by volume are:
Russia – 47,201,598 bottles
Ukraine - 8,306,807 bottles
China - 6,060,265
Poland - 3,225,982
Kazakhstan - 2,958,618
Belarus - 2,193,257
Latvia - 1,089,768
USA - 603,762
Lithuania - 570,948
Estonia - 559,412
In the first 10 months of 2019, 23.8 million bottles (0.5 L) of brandy were exported to 23 countries, which is a 52 per cent increase compared to 2018.
The revenue of exported brandy equalled $50.8 million (a 58 per cent increase).
Meanwhile, Georgian Chacha export increased by 62 per cent and the country exported 0.5 million bottles (0.5 L) of Chacha in 27 countries.
In the first 10 months of 2019, Georgia gained the revenue of $1.5 million from Chacha export which is an increase of 58 per cent compared to last year.
In total, Georgia has sold $284 million worth of alcoholic beverages in the first 10 months of this year including wine, brandy, Chacha and spirit.
Georgian export revenue from the sale of alcoholic beverages increased by 12 per cent compared to last year.
