According to Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Georgia has reached the historical maximum in the World Bank’s ease of doing business rating, but "the US has done slightly more than Georgia at this point" and so they are ahead of us.

As Turnava said after the cabinet meeting, Georgia has improved scores according to 8 out of 10 key indicators and remains a regional leader.

“Georgia remains a regional leader for 2020. Georgia is on the top position among 23 countries of Europe and Central Asia. I would also like to say that this rating is made up of 10 different indicators, out of which, Georgia has improved its scores in 8 indicators. Therefore, according to this rating, Georgia continues to make progress and improve its scores,” Natia Turnava said.

According to the World Bank Report 2020, Georgia ranked 7th with 83.7 points out of 190 countries in terms of ease of doing business.

It should be noted that Georgia's rating has dropped by 1 point compared to last year, though the country is still in the top ten and according to the report, Georgia is ahead of countries, such as Great Britain, Norway, Sweden, Germany and others according to the ease of doing business index.

The list is led by New Zealand, which is followed by Somalia.

As for Georgia's neighboring countries, Azerbaijan ranked 34th with 76.7 points and Armenia ranked 47th with 74.5 points.

The World Bank has been publishing the rating of ease of doing business since 2003. The survey involves 190 countries around the world.
