Aleko Elisashvili: The violence against me by the policemen is not investigated and they are encouraged

08.05.24 14:34

According to the leader of the "Citizens" party, Aleko Elisashvili, the policemen's violence against him is not being investigated, because in reality, violent policemen are being encouraged. The deputy told the journalists and explained that the special investigation agency is not doing anything to investigate the case.

According to him, the government has turned into a violent regime, a terrorist organization, it supports violent people and encourages violence.

"On the night of April 17, several policemen, about 5 policemen, assaulted me at the Government Chancellery. Everything can be seen in the footage, it was filmed. Each of them is visible on the face, and it was very easy to investigate this case, identify the culprits and punish them accordingly.

Behind my back there is a shady organization, a special investigation service, where my lawyer and I were interviewed. More than 20 days have passed since then, and no one has been arrested, but violent police officers are visible on their faces. They didn't blame anyone when it comes to the palm of their hand, and moreover, they didn't even recognize me as a victim. Actually, I am an ordinary citizen, an ordinary Georgian, but I am a member of the parliament, according to the constitution, I am protected by immunity, I have high guarantees of inviolability. However, there was a very banal and brutal violence against me, and neither the government nor this useless organization, the Special Investigation Service, paid attention. We are dealing with such a fact. In fact, this is not even a cover-up of the case, in fact, it is an encouragement of the violent policemen, so that these policemen feel safe and abuse not only the MP, but also any participant of the rally, which has been going on for so long", said Aleko Elisashvili.
