25.03.24 16:31

Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee, stated that the EU member states are convening once again in the format of the Foreign Committee Chairs of the EU Member States (COSAC) to address crucial issues for the Union.

Botchorishvili emphasized that discussions on the EU enlargement policy will also take place during the meeting.

“It is essential for us that the document produced by COSAC after two days of deliberation reflects Georgia’s significance and the necessity of commencing negotiations with Georgia, as well as outlining further steps toward EU accession. We will collaborate with our colleagues on this matter. My communication with COSAC will centre on this topic, focusing on the reforms underway in Georgia, the progress made in our integration journey, and our expectations for EU accession. Over these two days, there will be opportunities to discuss vital reforms concerning the rule of law and democracy strengthening. It presents a favourable occasion to update our colleagues on Georgia’s current stage, accomplishments, and reasons why Georgia should advance further along the path of European integration,” stated Maka Botchorishvili.
