"Visit of a delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance (NATO) is yet another accentuation of support demonstrated by NATO towards Georgia," stated Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia at a meeting with Madeleine Moon, President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly today.
Parties discussed the current cooperation between Georgia and North Atlantic Alliance, thereby highlighting the progress achieved by the country towards Euro-Atlantic integration.
Visiting dignitary expressed solid support towards Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia and noted that Parliamentary Assembly of NATO assigns distinct significance to cooperation with Georgia. In her assessment, it is gratifying that Georgia is eager to be a solid and fully-fledged member of this family. Successful implementation of the Substantial Package of NATO-Georgia cooperation has been underlined.
Focus was made on various directions of development in the country. Visiting delegation members were also keenly interested in the current reform agenda, including the initiatives implemented in the areas of security, social welfare and economic development.
Discussion held at the meeting was related to the current situation in the region, along with the difficult conditions witnessed in the occupied territories of Georgia in terms of humanitarian needs and security. President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly reaffirmed the Head of Government of Georgia in the solid support of the Parliamentary Assembly towards the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.
