When we came to power, there were approximately 250,000 cars in Tbilisi, now there are more than 600,000. Where did these cars come from? It comes from economic growth. New houses are being built and 80-90% of these apartments are bought by our citizens, this also comes from economic growth, Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze said.
According to him, less than 450,000 people in the country live below the poverty line, the Government is taking steps for poverty alleviation and will achieve to eliminate it by 2030.
"Regarding the unprecedented growth, we have had double-digit economic growth for two years in a row, last year it was 10.5, this year it is 10. Of course, this growth does not have equal effects on all residents, but there are simple data, for example, from the World Bank, that just 3-4 years ago, 850,000 people lived below the poverty line in Georgia, by the end of this year this figure will be less than 450,000, that is, 400,000 people have overcome poverty in 3-4 years, this is the data of the World Bank.
When we came to power, there were approximately 250,000 cars in Tbilisi, now there are more than 600,000. The quality and quantity of cars have improved. Where did these cars come from? It is due to the economic growth. New houses are being built and 80-90% of these apartments are bought by our citizens, this also comes from economic growth. Unfortunately, this growth cannot have equal effects on over three million and 700 thousand people, but it covers a fairly large segment.
Even this is not enough. When 400 thousand people live below the poverty line, of course, we cannot be happy and joyful, but the direction is correct and IMF tells us that we will be able to eliminate poverty by 2030, the main thing is to keep this peace”, Kobakhidze said.
