According to Mamuka Mdinaradze, one of the leaders of Georgian Dream, there was no discussion of the candidacy for the position of the Public Defender in the ruling party and the team does not have its candidate.

As Mdinaradze told journalists, the election of the Public Defender needs the support of the opposition, so a consensus should be made on the issue.

"I can firmly confirm that the ruling team does not have its own candidate and there was no such discussion about anyone in our team. There are reasons for this - for example, due to the fact that it is impossible to elect the Public Defender without the opposition, the support of 90 MPs is needed. Without consensus and compromise, we will not be able to agree on this issue, no matter how many candidates we have," said Mdinaradze.

As for the assessment of Nino Lomjaria's performance, as Mdinaradze stated, Lomjaria was involved in political and radical activities.

"Lomjaria was involved in brilliant political and radical activities. This person was a very solid base of the National Movement and a radical attacker against Georgia, especially in the recent period, when she was directly involved in the attempts of coup d'état. When we elected Lomjaria, we did not expect that this person would be ours. It was a democratic decision. Many of us may not have thought that she would be so openly involved in the National Movement’s campaign to overthrow the Government, but we certainly knew that she would be critical of us. Criticism is acceptable, even if it is harsh, subjective, or even beyond the framework of objectivity. Although I knew her close contacts with members of the National Movement, I personally did not expect that she would be standing at the rally and demanding the creation of a technical government," said Mdinaradze.
