Kakha Kaladze: The Government acts in the interests of the country, so Georgia will not get involved in the Russia-Ukraine war

02.08.22 10:30

According to Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, the Government acts in the interests of the country and citizens of Georgia and will not get involved in the Russia-Ukraine war.

He thus answered a question about the banners displayed in the capital, which read: "Russia wants war, not the West".

According to Kaladze, he does not know what this campaign serves.

"I don't know what the campaign is and what it serves. It is difficult for me to comment on this. Perhaps you should ask the people behind this campaign and they will tell you more.

As for the start of the war and the involvement of Georgia, we have talked about it many times. We can cite many specific examples, statements made by political parties, statements made by non-governmental organizations and the head of the Security Council of our friendly country, etc. However, I would like to emphasize once again that the Government of Georgia serves the interests of our country and acts as our people and, first of all, our country needs. Accordingly, Georgia will not get involved in the war," Kaladze said.
