Jeanne Shaheen: I call on Georgian legislators to strongly oppose the spread of dangerous disinformation by those who want to undermine democracy in Georgia

These are the same non-original methods from the textbook that Putin often uses, Senator Jeanne Shaheen told the Georgian Service of Voice of America.

 

According to the Senator, Georgian MPs should be the force opposing attempts to sow mistrust in the relations between the two countries.

 

The Senator says that this type of tactic, which we have already seen, indicates Russia's strong will to spread its malign influence throughout Eastern Europe and specifically to hinder Georgia from achieving its democratic and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

 

"I call on Georgian legislators to strongly oppose the spread of this dangerous disinformation by those who want to undermine democracy in Georgia and endanger the creation of a more just and equal future for the Georgian people," the Senator said, adding that the United States remains committed to supporting its democratic partners.
