Irakli Kobakhidze: We have no information that it could be a friendly meeting, if Kelly Degnan considers herself a friend of Bidzina Ivanishvili, she would have distanced herself from the unjust attack on her friend Ivanishvili

If Kelly Degnan considers herself a friend of Bidzina Ivanishvili, she would have distanced herself from the unjust attack on her friend Ivanishvili, Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of Georgian Dream, said when commenting on the meeting held between the founder of the party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, and Kelly Degnan, the US Ambassador to Georgia.

According to him, no personal meeting could have taken place between Ivanishvili and Degnan, as personal meetings are held only between friends.

"We have no such information that it was a friendly meeting. Therefore, there was a full right to speak publicly about this meeting, to ask questions and to give answers to these questions. If Kelly Degnan considers herself a friend of Bidzina Ivanishvili, she would have distanced herself from the unjust attack on her friend. She would have a proper reaction, among other things, to the resolution of the European Parliament and the message box of the radical opposition, as well as to NGOs.

This is an orchestrated attack on Bidzina Ivanishvili, which involves the radical opposition, NGOs and more than 300 MEPs, and if the Ambassador were a friend, of course, she would have very easily distanced herself from the process. However, unfortunately, she did not do this and it raises additional questions. Therefore, it is important to be clear in all this, for example, when someone says that sanctions should be imposed on Ivanishvili, it is important that the US Ambassador has a clear position in this regard, when someone demands the resignation of the Government, the Ambassador should have a clear position in this regard, etc.", said Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to him, it is a pity that the US Ambassador did not confirm the meeting with Ivanishvili from the very beginning.

"It is bad that this information was not confirmed from the very beginning. The Ambassador could easily answer this question, she could say that this meeting took place after the start of the war. Naturally, the society would not have any additional questions in this case. Later Bidzina Ivanishvili's letter was spread, as a result of which the Ambassador finally confirmed this meeting. When you can easily give an answer to a question but you don't, naturally, certain doubts emerge in the society, which is very bad," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
