Lawyer says Mikheil Saakashvili may be taken to Germany for treatment after postponement of sentence

28.07.22 17:30

According to the lawyer of the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, Valeri Gelbakhiani, after the postponement of the sentence, the former president may be taken to Germany for treatment.

"It is not an easy issue, the main work has been done by doctors and experts, now all this needs to be brought to the final stage. The final report must be issued by the expert bureau. We assume that foreign experts will also issue their reports and then we will go to the court with a motion to postpone the sentence, because there is no improvement in the vital parameters. He was in Gori Hospital, Gldani Prison Hospital, now he is in Vivamedi, they all provided different types of treatment, 14 diseases were detected, we don't even know if the diagnosis is correct or not, as not a single parameter is improving. This is a very bad prognosis. We assume that the procedures should be completed in August.

We don't know the opinion of the family yet, but Saakashvili thinks German clinics are more highly qualified and probably we will focus on Germany, I say probably, since this has not been decided yet," said the lawyer.
