“Let's talk about who might need sanctions. If anyone seriously starts talking about sanctions, then the suspicions that some people want something special from Bidzina Ivanishvili and that they are asking him for something specific will deepen,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Georgian Dream party.
As Kobakhidze mentioned, the imposition of sanctions will lead to a counterproductive result, including for Davit Arakhamia.
"Everyone knows that there is no fact that Bidzina Ivanishvili is involved in politics, and the people who can theoretically impose sanctions know this very well. If such a thing happens theoretically, then it turns out that someone really wants something specific from him. What they may want, we will not say it consciously today, but the public can understand approximately what they may want. Therefore, I think that imposing sanctions would be absolutely counterproductive as the only thing that may happen would be the disclosure of some of the intentions. It will not harm us. Arakhamia and others like him will not achieve any results with such efforts, on the contrary, they may get the opposite result. Actually, they are threatening with something and for something, all this looks like blackmail, and let the public make conclusions why they may need it and what the purpose of this blackmail may be," Kobakhidze said on Imedi TV.
