“Gharibashvili was kicked out from Brussels because of the harsh reality, we must do our best so that Georgia does not lose its historic chance,” Giorgi Vashadze, the leader of Strategy Builder, said.
He responded to Irakli Kobakhidze's statement, noting that the Georgian Dream was trying to avoid responsibility by blaming the opposition.
"We have not asked for sanctions, they want to portray it this way. We said that a legislative package should be drafted so that sanctions are not circumvented and both the population and international partners are sure of that. No one has seen such a document, there is no order. I addressed them publicly and they have not responded. Are they hiding it from us?! I have questions with them and this shows their anti-Western position. Why are they attacking our partners, why are they financing the anti-Ukrainian, anti-Zelensky campaign, why was Nika Gvaramia arrested before the Prime Minister's visit to Brussels? Could not they do it in September? You know very well that they could. They did it now because they do not want to get the candidate status and they especially do not want to hear conditions from there. They have pro-Western supporters and they pretend that they want the EU, but on the other hand, they do their best to get rejected," said Vashadze.
Earlier today, Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party, said “certain politicians from the radical opposition are campaigning against Georgia's candidacy in the European Union”.
"We have specific information that certain politicians from the radical opposition are going to the corridors, offices and campaigning against Georgia's candidacy in the European Union. This is a given fact, which is not a new event. We remember exactly the same thing about visa liberalization, back then it was not successful. Hopefully, their campaign will not be successful in this case either," Kobakhidze said.
