“I am very optimistic that this situation will change very soon in favor of Mikheil Saakashvili as an unjustly imprisoned person. He will be transferred to the relevant civilian medical facility in the relevant European country," Nika Melia, the leader of the United National Movement, told reporters after meeting with Derek Chollet, Counselor of the US Department of State.
As Melia explained, Mikheil Saakashvili fights for life.
"We talked about Nika Gvaramia and Mikheil Saakashvili. Political imprisonment, which is no longer perceived as a sensation in the country, is more disturbing for our partners. This situation is aggravated by the circumstances in which Mikheil Saakashvili is. He fights for life. The role of representatives of our main partner state is very important in this regard.
As never before, I am very optimistic that this situation will change very soon in favor of Mikheil Saakashvili as an unjustly imprisoned person. He will be transferred to the relevant civilian medical facility in the relevant European country," Melia said.
As for the director of the Main Channel, Nika Gvaramia, as Melia noted, he hopes that "measures will be taken relating to Nika Gvaramia very soon and he will come back soon."
"There is not even a question mark regarding Nika Gvaramia. He is a classic political prisoner, in every sense, a media representative.
The Georgian Dream went even further, the head of one of the leading critical media outlets, a journalist, was unjustifiably arrested. I think measures will be taken relating to Nika Gvaramia very quickly and he will come back to you soon,” said Melia.
