The Anaklia Port is not a private project and property of any company, consortium, or person. It is a state order on the construction of a deep sea port in Georgia, - Parliament’s Vice Speaker Tamar Chugoshvili told InterPressNews, while commenting on the charges brought against Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze by the Prosecutor’s Office.
According to Chugoshvili, the Anaklia Port constitutes a state order, and it is wrong to raise the issue as if the project was the property of a specific company or person.
“We have said this many times and I can repeat the same. The Anaklia Port is not the private project or property of any company, consortium, or person. This is a strategic project of the state; this is a state order on the construction of a deep sea port in Georgia, in order to increase the cargo and transit capacities of our country, which is important for our economy. Therefore, it is simply impossible to show the issue so that it belongs to one company or person. This is a state project and the state did its best to support the company carrying out the project, in order to ensure its successful implementation,” Tamar Chugoshvili stated.
The lawmaker also noted that the project always enjoyed the support from the authorities and will continue to do so.
