The head of the Israeli Security Council is resigning

Meir Ben-Shabbat , an adviser to the Israeli cabinet and head of the country's National Security Council, has informed Prime Minister Naftali Bennett that he will step down at the end of the summer.


"On the evening of June 30, the head of the National Security Council informed the Prime Minister that he was leaving the post on the fourth anniversary of his inauguration," the Chancellery said in a statement.

 

Ben-Shabbat was appointed to the above position in 2017, during the period of Benjamin Netanyahu, and oversaw the normalization of Israeli relations with the United Arab Emirates , Bahrain , Morocco and Sudan.
